Dr. Lewis outlines updates to the e-seminar.

Even though heart disease is America's leading killer, far too few of us really understand how our hearts work. In this e-seminar, cardiologist and Columbia University associate professor of clinical medicine Dr. Benjamin H. Lewis explains the workings of the healthy, normal heart and introduces the leading diagnostic tools that physicians use to establish normal or diagnose abnormal heart function. Dr. Lewis will also review the latest treatments for a range of cardiac problems, discuss why it is sometimes important to treat men's and women's hearts differently, and consider overall approaches for improving cardiac health.

In caring for patients and teaching at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Lewis has devoted his career to cardiac disease prevention, the increased use of lifestyle approaches and medical therapies, and to the use of noninvasive, nonradioactive techniques for the diagnosis and management of heart disease. Dr. Lewis practices and teaches in New York City.
